AICPA Names New Vice Chair
The American Institute of CPAs has named Patricia Duperron Vice Chair of its State and Local Government Expert Panel. Duperron is an assurance director for BDO USA, LLP and has 21 years of public accounting experience. She’s worked with government entities, businesses and nonprofit organizations. Duperron graduated from the University of Michigan with a BBA in Accounting.

New Leadership of the CBA Elected
The California Board of Accountancy recently announced the election of Leslie LaManna, CPA as president, Michael Savoy, CPA as vice president and Kitak (K.T.) Leung, CPA as secretary/treasurer. LaManna has served as the vice president and secretary/treasurer of CBA and president of the San Diego Chapter of the California Society of CPAs previously. She is also a partner of LaManna & LaManna, CPAs. Savoy recently held the position of secretary/treasurer of CBA. He is managing director at Gumbiner Savett Inc. Leung currently serves on several CBA committees and is the principal of Leung Accountancy Corporation.

Grant Thornton LLP Selects New National Managing Principal
Grant Thornton LLP recently announced it appointed James A. Peko as national managing principal of the Corporate Advisory & Restructuring Services practice. Peko, who has more than 24 years of capital markets and restructuring expertise, has managed financings for issuers such as Disney, Hewlett Packard, Ford Motor Credit Corporation and Intel Corporation. He received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from St. Peter’s College and his master’s in business administration from Fordham University.

KPMG Names CIO and West Region Managing Partner 
KPMG LLP recently named Harry Moseley Chief Information Officer and Joe Norville West Region Managing Partner – Tax. Moseley will work with KPMG’s Management Committee and business leaders on the firm’s technology platform and capabilities. Moseley has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry and received his BA/BAI degree in engineering, mathematics and computer science from Trinity College Dublin. Norville was tax partner in charge for KPMG’s Dallas/Denver Business Unit. He graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin with his bachelor’s degree and received his Master of Taxation Degree from Baylor University.

Vrakas/Blum Adds New Staff Accountants 
Vrakas/Blum, a public accounting and business advisory firm, recently announced the addition of Goran Vukovic and Christopher Marks as staff accountants. Goran graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and a Master of Science in Management degree. Marks graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater with a Master of Professional Accountancy degree.
